It's Everybody's Business

Did you know that 1 in 4 Canadian women are victims of abuse? In Niagara, 510 women and children sought refuge in 2009 at a Women’s Shelter, fleeing violent and abusive relationships, and the number continues to trend upward. As educators, it is also important to realize that 37% of spousal assaults are witnessed by children.

Stop Family Violence, It’s Everybody’s Business (IEB) is a community based organization that started over six years ago in Niagara. Our vision is to create workplace environments that strive to prevent family violence. Our representatives and partners include women’s shelters, Niagara Regional Police Services, government agencies, worker group representatives, local businesses and school boards. As a result, IEB has been able to present information about family violence to over 20,000 people in Niagara. On behalf of the most vulnerable members of our community, we would like to thank you for distributing the IEB Materials to help end family violence by making it “Everybody’s Business”.

 Available to your are:

  • “Stop Family Violence: It’s Everybody’s Business” website at http://www.itseverybodysbusiness.ca. The website contains electronic copies of our printed materials as well as a 5 minute power point presentation which is suitable for showing at a staff meeting (under the toolkits tab);
  • Your school received a package of materials for posting and distributing that consists of: 5 Posters, 20 brochures and 25 wallet cards;
